Hey guys,
After a month-and-a-half hiatus, I am finally back online! So sorry to all my dear readers for leaving you guys hanging. It got very hectic around here and I had a bunch of stuff I needed to take care of, so I thought I'd take part of the summer off to get it out of the way. Now that I'm back, an update is in order!
Deloitte Internship
This one was a ton of hard work, but I don't regret it one bit. Man, they really showed me the ropes at Deloitte, and I couldn't have asked for a better time. Everyone there at the office was incredibly welcoming and extremely willing to spend time with the interns. Over the 2 months I've gotten quite an eye opener on this field!
In all practicality though, I think this is a great career to be in - very laid back working environment, with a healthy dose of stress to keep me moving forward. I know a lot of people can't hear the word accounting with grimacing, but seriously? There is very little math involved! Most of the calculation is done by computer nowadays, so there might be a bit of data entry but that's about it for number crunching. Most of it is problem solving: How to work this out, What are the tax rules regarding that, How should we classify that on the books, What other ways can we book it more efficiently...
Anywho, not sure if there are many of you out there that are interested in this field, but if you are... Good on ya! I strongly suggest it.
Diet
That dreaded 4 letter word...
So recently I've put myself on a diet. Under all the stress lately I think I've been munching down a lot more and eating convenience [less healthy] foods. Therefore, I think I need to slim down again so I can fit my tights! But let's get it out there people, I'm not the best at dieting, and damn y'all should see my snack cupboard. Or more like snack storage silo. Seriously I could house a family of 6 in my snack cupboard - food and board.
And to get to the point, I was hoping someone could recommend me a good Protein Powder for women? I never thought I'd be taking this stuff, but I have heard that they help with the weight loss... I plan on eating 5-6 small meals a day and replacing a few of them with protein shakes. Also, it'd be great if someone could build me a meal plan...!
Thanks, love you guys and it's great to be back. Keep checking for more updates!

Glad you're back! Summer is a hectic time, no regrets
ReplyDeletehaha, we all need a break, glad to have you back though :) Yeah, eating small meals throughout the day is suppose to boost your metabolism some how, thats what ive been doing and it works a little, the best diet for me though is not eating all day until like the afternoon, then i snack a little, and then eat dinner. ive lost like 30 pounds from it. Not everyone can ignore their hunger like me though haha so I guess I'm lucky.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to dig into this blog, I'm studying towards being an accountant and this blog is just a thing for inspiration and entertainment of course
ReplyDeleteI use http://caloriecount.com and it's brilliant, it does everything. You can use it to work out how many calories you need and use that info to find diet plans. You can also log all your calories for the day and it gives you nutrition information, it actually gets rather addictive.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your internship went well and good luck with your diet, you seem really driven so you'll do great :)
Eating less isn't particularly difficult if you find something more interesting to do.
ReplyDeleteOr you could do it like me, drop one addiction pick up another like a boss =3 Don't do that please it's bad advice^^
i think my stomach is getting flatter
ReplyDeletecool stuff! ill be following you daily, keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteI just found this blog but i guess i picked a good time! Good luck with your diet.
ReplyDeleteif you're gonna use protein shakes as part of you diet, you'll probably wanna do some exercise as well, or most of the protein will just turn straight to calories. Good luck anywho, +followed!
ReplyDeleteHappy to see you back Jessica! Good luck on your diet!
ReplyDeleteGreat to have you back! Good luck with the diet!!
ReplyDeleteJust remember, when snacking, eat something your body will quickly dispel, rather than let it sit in your stomach due to all the random chemicals in food these days. Fresh fruit is great, I prefer Watermelon since while filling you up, is very, and I mean very, low on calories, a typical sized watermelon will only be about 1200 calories. I did a straight Watermelon diet a few weeks ago and ended up losing 8 lbs in 3 days. My friends all laughed and claimed I'd gain it all back once I started eating real food again, but I didn't. I'm still currently sitting at the same weight after eating garbage for the last few days. I think I might hit another one as I'm only about 15 lbs from my goal weight.
ReplyDeleteRambling here though, good luck with your diet though. Give Watermelon a chance.
I think I need to go on a reverse diet, I eat every chance I get and am still hungry, and never gain any weight, maybe I am destined to look like a twig.
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of myths when it comes to losing weight.
ReplyDeleteCheck out this interview with author of "Why We Get Fat?"

ReplyDeleteGood to have you back. I don't know anything about diets, sorry.
ReplyDeleteHonestly I'd just suggest taking walks in the evening. It'll help you get in shape and it's great at reducing stress.

ReplyDeleteWelcome back! Hmm, about the protein thing. I would try cardio instead. That will burn lots of fat all across the board. Then if you wanna target a specific area, take the direct approach with weights. Or sit ups.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back man :D
ReplyDeleteWelcome back and keep up with the good job!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! Sounds like a great job and good luck with the whole diet thing.
ReplyDeleteGreat to have you back with us!
ReplyDeleteGood to have you back, good luck on your diet.
ReplyDeleteI find it really cool that you got an internship at one of the big 4. I'm interested in at least getting a professional designation and maybe I might work at one of them (although I heard that auditing is really boring)
ReplyDeletewelcome back dude, looking forward to more posts!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! I can't wait until I start seeing more of your blogs.
ReplyDeleteso good to have you back!
ReplyDelete+1 and following,
One of my friends worked at Deloitte and he absolutely hated it. Worked nuts hours.
ReplyDeletewelcome back, As far as protein shakes go I don't know that there is much difference between men and women shakes. Both sexes metabolize the protein in a similar fashion, but some weightlifting circles thought that Soy had a feminizing effect (lowered testosterone and raised estrogen thought I would like to know if the samples of soy where stored in a BPA free vessel as the feminizing may have been from the BPA). Either way mixing proteins helps make sure that it is evenly metabolized. Article below talks about milk and its slow release cycle and whey protein isolate and its spiked release cycle. From what I have read and been told by a nutritionist, low fat chocolate milk is an excellent and inexpensive way to get post workout protein with high absorption rates.

Short answer is make sure you mix your protein shake with low fat milk.
